Air Tight of Japan is another staple at the Munich show, but as usual, they’re satisfied with a static display of all their high end wares. New for this year is the introduction of their ATE-2005 tube phono stage that is switchable for both MM and MC. As is in their custom, the ATE-2005 is fully point-to-point wired and is chockfull of high quality components. Housed in a beautifully finished chassis and blessed with Muira san’s masterful touch, this looks like another top contender in the high end phono market.
Relatively new for me is the German speaker company called Audium. I believe that this is the first time (I could be wrong of course) that they’re exhibiting at the Munich show, but their slim and elegant speakers are certainly a sight for sore eyes. As a friend of mine commented, the design of the Audium speakers stands out from other conventional designs and I can foresee that they’ll be a hit with audiophiles who want equipment with high WAF. Just look at the photos and you’ll know exactly what I mean! Comprising for the moment of 3 models (there are 2 floor-standers and one stand mounted design) the Audiums use a full range driver for the main frequency spectrum and augmented by a downward firing woofer for the bass. There are definite plans to come out with a matching centre channel speaker that uses the same full range driver and also a sub-woofer in the near future. You can expect to see these slim beauties in Singapore real soon!
