of you may be aware that we achieved a sort of milestone in our sales of
Avantgarde speakers last month by selling our first pair of TRIO
Omegas, complete with the awesome BassHorn. In
fact, we had it on demonstration in our showroom (left picture)
for a week and truly opened our eyes (and ears) to the enormous potential

 Totem
Acoustic’s new sub-woofer, the Thunder is finally
in town! Featuring one active 10” metal cone woofer and two passive
radiators of similar composition; it is designed to play at realistic sound
levels for both music and home theatre applications, without distortion
or dynamic compression. Judging by its awesome bass quality and extremely high standard of fit and finish, its retail price of S$2990 seems very reasonable indeed. It comes in mahogany, cheery and maple real wood finishes. |

 Bluenote’s
Piccolo turntable is so attractive, it’s hard to believe that it is only
their entry-level model. It has a 20mm thick platter made of transparent
acrylic for good rotational stability and dissipation of resonance. All
other parts are made of machine-worked aluminum, brass, bronze and stainless
steel for improved sonic performance. Even the pulley is made of Delring,
which resists transmission of resonance and has a lower slippage coefficient.

 To
many of us, Kondo
makes exclusive products that are mostly unattainable and even a little
like the Loch Ness Monster, often heard about but never seen. Well, all
that is about to change with the appearance of the Ongaku Neiro
at the end of this month. The Ongaku Neiro is a Parallel Single-Ended design
using two 2A3 triode tubes per channel for a rated output of 8 watts per
channel in Pure Class A.Part of Kondo’s appeal (apart from the magical sound) is due to their fanatical search for audio perfection, resulting in the use of their own hand-wound silver output transformers, hand-made signal capacitors, resistors, pure silver internal wiring and even potentiometers. It is meant only for the few who appreciate their innate beauty – Kondo products are not mere electrical appliances, but are acknowledged as collectors’ items to be passed down from generation to generation. |

 The
long-awaited HYDRA Model 8 line conditioner from Shunyata
Research is finally ready to be released and here is a sneak peek of it.
During it’s three year production cycle, Shunyata’s original HYDRA power
distribution centre became the most critically acclaimed product of its
kind, receiving awards and accolades from every publication that reviewed
it, including being named the “Product of the Year” by
hifi+ magazine in March of 2003. During production of the original HYDRA, former NSA scientist and Shunyata founder, Caelin Gabriel continued the development and refinement of the Hydra concept. As improved parts were developed and custom processes evolved – it became clear that a redesign would be necessary to incorporate the sheer number of improvements and new technologies. The new HYDRA Model 8 incorporates a number of new features and developments:
