Pulse, speed and dynamic contrasts all add up
to a tingling “surprise factor” that borders on the surreal.
At ease with all types of music, the Forest opens up corridors of
new experiences.
Whether you are listening in stereo, multi-channel audio, or high
quality A/V application, Forest speakers bring forth a synergy between
spatial cues, imaging and powerful dynamics that go beyond what is
expected of “any speaker”.
This two-way floorstanding model that is surprisingly affordable,
considering that it is a true super-speaker. For instance, its 6.5"
woofer has the same 3" voice coil you find on even the most expensive
Totem loudspeakers. That woofer and its aluminum dome tweeter, allow
it to cover the range from 33 Hz to 20 kHz. Those aren't mere paper
specs, either. The response is down only 6 dB at 28 Hz, a frequency
most speakers can't reach.
It is easy to drive: sensitivity is a reasonable 87 dB, and its impedance,
a nominal 8 ohms, never dips below 6.4 ohms. It sits on polished metal
feet that echo the "beak" resonator, which sits atop the speaker.
Totem has spared no expense in making the Forest one of the best speakers
available. Its lock-mitered monocoque chassis, its slanted rear baffle,
and its fine hand-crafted construction place it above lesser speakers
of its size and price. Much of this is invisible, though by no means
inaudible. However you can see its twin pair of superb WBT binding
posts, and its magnificent mahogany or black ash finish (rift cherry
is an option). As usual with Totem speakers, the fine wood veneer
is also placed inside the cabinet, so equalize forces on the two sides
of the walls.

About
Totem Acoustics
Totem Acoustic was founded in 1987 by Vincent Bruzzese in Montreal,
Canada. The new company's original mission was to develop a totally
new transducer, a loudspeaker capable of reproducing a truly musical
and involving performance. The goal was to provide something not currently
available on the market--an affordable "soul mover" for the music
lover.
The "Totem Acoustic" name was chosen as an ongoing symbolic representation
of this mission and vision. The Totem represents, to the native North
American people, an entity which chooses an individual and then guides
that person during his or her life. Totem Acoustic is a bridge to
higher musical awareness. |
