The Piccolo is
Bluenote's entry level acrylic Turntable. Like all Bluenote turntables
it is a belt driven unit. It produces a very smooth, detailed and
natural sound. To achieve this high level of sonic performance
the turntable is made of parts exclusively manufactured for Bluenote
using precision machining and the very highest quality materials.
The turntable platter is made of 20mm thick acrylic supported
on a 15mm thick transparent acrylic platform rigidly coupled to
its feet. The Piccolo uses the TulipanT, Bluenote's high performance
aluminium pulley supplied with every turntable in the range. Made
in the shape of a flower, one can easily adjust its 'petals' wider
or narrower for super fine speed adjustment.
The innovative platter
bearing/spindle system is derived directly from the best Bluenote
models. It is based on an external threaded bearing set up with
an in axis housing and uses the Bluenote Split-SpindleT. The Split-SpindleT is
machined electronically and then finely polished. The bearing has
two small graphite/Teflon® internal bearings enabling the Piccolo
to perform very close to the standard set by more expensive Bluenote
models. The two-piece Split-SpindleT tightly clamps the platter
eliminating vibrations and oscillations.
At the bottom of the external
platter bearing a special threaded bearing made of Arnite© (one
of the hardest and toughest self lubricant plastic polymers available)
ensures not only the steadiness of turntable rotation, but also
allows the height of the platter to be adjusted. This VTA adjustment
capability is normally only available on the tone arm. |
