| The Series 7
turntable was designed as a professional transcription unit, to provide
the highest possible levels of audio performance from an elegantly
simple, dependable and user-friendly unit by using a minimum number
of very high quality precision engineered parts. The S7 system was
designed for both dedicated audiophiles and professional users. It
is easy to set up and use, refreshingly practical and forthright.
Seriously engineered for music. Zen.
The turntable is supplied with a record mat fabricated from pure
graphite, though other materials may be substituted to provide
an alternative acoustic impedance to the disc in play. A record
clamp is also supplied. The module, or turntable chassis, is a
massive stainless steel disc into which the turntable bearing is
built, and onto which the armboard is affixed.
The a.c. motor drive system delivers speeds of 33.3, 45 & 78
rpm, driving the platter via a compliant belt and precision transfer
bearing system (a version of the turntable may be supplied without
the intermediate transfer bearing assembly, thereby providing just
one fixed speed of 33.3 rpm).
Armboards can be supplied pre-cut for mounting most well-known
tonearms, and are easily interchanged. Armboards suitable for 12" tonearms
or for simultaneously mounting and operating multiple tonearms
can also be supplied.
The S7 tonearm is the perfect compliment to the S7 turntable
- they were made for each other. A unipivot device, configured
to permit free movement in both the lateral and vertical planes
whilst preventing movement in the rocking plane, the S7 tonearm
is a simple and user-friendly device, designed for both professional
and high-end domestic users in equal measure.
A 12" version of the tonearm is available to enable tracking of
large archive discs. The larger tonearm is, apart from length and
mass, identical to its 9" relative and can be supplied with a reversed
geometry to enable tracking of anticlockwise mastered discs. The
12" tonearm is able to transcribe discs of up to 20" in diameter
whilst the 9" version will accommodate discs of up to 14" in diameter.
From a purely sonic view, the 9" tonearm is to be preferred. |
